Pelican Beach Resort - South Water Caye (Belize)

South Water Caye is located atop the Belize Barrier Reef, approximately 14 miles southeast of the coastal town of Dangriga in southern Belize. Their base of operations is their sister hotel (Pelican Beach Resort, Dangriga), which is located near the Dangriga airstrip. If you are entering Dangriga from there, they provide complimentary transportation from the Dangriga airstrip to the hotel and dock.

Home to the second largest barrier reef in the world, Belize offers good Caribbean diving combined with an excellent tropical rain forest, exotic birds, and historical Mayan ruins. Its also one of the few places in the world where you can scuba dive (not just snorkel) with whale sharks.

Welcome to open-air dining on the deck of the Pelicans Pouch where coffee, tea, juice, and water is available all day along with a mid-morning snack of fresh baked cookies.

Meals include tropical fruits, salads, fresh seafood, and delicious local dishes and desserts. Island blends and mixes, local beer, rum, and wine can be found at the fully stocked bar.

Diving In Belize

The dive operator, Seemore Adventures, does dive tours at the Southern Barrier Reef around South Water Caye Marine Reserve and Glovers Reef Atoll Marine Reserve. Both locations are a part of The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. At South Water Caye they have 18 different dive sites used on a regular basis and at Glovers 11 different dive sites.

The diving in Belize is varied enough to please everyone from novices to seasoned divers. Youll find an abundance of coral gardens, sponges, reef sharks, rays, and small reef fish.
